National Doctors’ Day 2023

In recognition of National Doctors’ Day, celebrated annually on March 30th, we spoke with Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Michael Johnson, about the physicians at Bethany Children’s Health Center.

“We have a team of passionate, dedicated, and talented physicians who are deeply committed to their work here.  As experts in their fields, they engage in a variety of initiatives that both advance and improve patient care, such as care transformation teams, multidisciplinary clinics, quality improvement efforts, and research projects.” Dr. Johnson explains.

Since he started at Bethany Children’s ten years ago, the volume and complexity of patients at the Hospital has increased, and the Hospital has had to ensure the right team members were added along the way to meet those growing demands.

Dr. Johnson says, “Our physicians are key players and we have seen tremendous benefits from the talent and passion they have. The degree of clinical and scientific sophistication they bring to the table is second to none. I never cease to be amazed at how much our physicians care about the success of each child and how much they desire to make a difference.  It’s such an honor to work with each one.”

With the continued growth of the Hospital, Dr. Johnson expects to continue building the physician team. He shared these updates, “We will launch Child Neurology at the Hospital very soon, which is a service we will actively be looking to grow, and this next year we will be looking at additional physiatry recruitment which will permit us to further specialize and broaden services within physical medicine and rehab. We are very excited about the new opportunities that have come our way and are even more excited about what awaits us in the future!”

On National Doctors’ Day, Dr. Johnson had this to say about the physicians at Bethany Children’s, “I am beyond grateful to have the opportunity work with such an outstanding team of physicians.  Every single one of them is excellent at what they do.  They care for our patients and families tirelessly, they never cease to look for ways to improve, and they care for and support each other well.  I am honored to call them my colleagues and friends.”

We are thrilled to recognize our doctors for all they do for our patients, families and our community.
