Bethany Children’s Health Center Most Recent DAISY Award recipient, Karla Puentes, LPN on January 16, 2024
Join us in congratulating Karla Puentes, LPN, the latest recipient of the DAISY Award at Bethany Children’s Health Center! Karla was nominated by Reed Yackley, who spent months here with his wife, Bethany, and their adopted son, Reuben.
Reed was impressed with the care Reuben received and especially Karla’s compassionate commitment to Reuben’s well-being throughout his stay.
“Karla has been so supportive and caring for Reuben. She was one of the first nurses we had once he moved to the 3rd floor after heart surgery, and one of the last as we prepared for discharge. She was genuine about how she cared for him and was easy to be around. She is deserving of recognition.” – Reed Yackley
We join the Yackleys in thanking Karla for her outstanding commitment to Reuben throughout his stay at Bethany Children’s. Nursing professionals like Karla, who go above and beyond for their patients, are an inspiration to us all. We are proud to have her as a member of our healthcare team and grateful for the positive impact she has on our patients’ lives.

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. Please say thank you by sharing your story of how a nurse made a difference you will never forget!
