Employee Heartbeat – Picture Perfect

Radiologic Tech

How Radiology became a passion for Dena Henderson

At Bethany Children’s Health Center, our employees truly are the heartbeat that drives the organization. Every day, through the care and service they provide, they live our mission of maximizing the potential of every child and exemplify our core values of compassion, integrity, excellence, service and stewardship.

We hope you enjoy getting to know our amazing employees through our Heartbeat profiles.

When she’s not busy at Bethany Children’s Health Center, Radiologic Technologist Dena Henderson loves going on adventures with her family and taking photos. It’s her early interest in photography, combined with a desire to help others, that led her to a career in radiology.  Dena became a Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) in 2000 and worked for ten years at Mercy Hospital. When her son was born, she took a break until he started school. When she took a job working in the special education classes at her son’s school, she found a passion she never knew she had. “Little did I know, God was preparing me for bigger things. I always knew God would provide me with a PRN X-ray position someday. I saw that Bethany Children’s was looking for one, and the rest is history,” Dena recalls. “I was drawn to the Hospital not only because of the amazing facility, but also having the opportunity to work with children.”

Dena has been the full-time Rad Tech at Bethany Children’s since 2019 and loves making a difference in the lives of patients every day. “Radiology is a growing and important field that involves providing imaging to help diagnose medical conditions and assess treatments,” she explains. “We are fortunate to have a portable X-ray machine that allows us to go to our patients.”

Dena and her husband are faithful supporters of Bethany Children’s. “It is a very unique and amazing place where we can see lives being changed and kids being healed. There are so many needs here and my husband and I want to make a difference,” she shares.

Dena truly has a heart for giving to others. When asked what superpower she would choose, Dena doesn’t hesitate to say, “I would love to have the power of healing – to be able to pray for a child and they would be healed.”
